Radiometrix releases UHF radio data receiver

The  RX3G is a PLL synthesiser-based miniature PCB-mounted UHF radio data receiver device.

When used in conjunction with the matching TX3B-869-64 transmitters, the RX3G receiver can facilitate the implementation of wireless infrastructure that is capable of supporting speeds of 64kbits/s and transmission ranges up to 75 meters in buildings or 300 meters over open ground.







 The device has a receive sensitivity of -102dBm at 1ppm BER for 64kbits/s operation and -108dBm sensitivity at 1ppm BER for 15kbits/s operation and incorporates a wide range RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) that measures the strength of an incoming signal over a range of approximately 50dB.

This allows assessment of the link quality and available margin with which the network can operate, so that a judgment can be made on what distances can be supported.

The device requires a regulated 5V supply with ripple content of less than 100mV peak-to-peak. The RX3G  complies with both the EN 301 489-3 EMC (thanks to internal filtering) and EN 300 220-3 radio standards.

It is suitable for one-to-one and multi-node wireless link topologies, and can be employed in a variety of applications, including automobile security, building security, environmental monitoring, inventory tracking, remote industrial process control and computer networking.

With its dimensions of 47mm x 16.8mm x 2.5mm and low power requirements (current consumption typically 10mA), the RX3G is optimised for use in portable, battery-powered wireless design such as hand-held terminals.

Fighting Bacteria with the DataNet in Europe

Fourier spoke to Marcial Ferro from MF Instruments, Spain, about the leading applications he is finding for the DataNet multi-unit wireless system. In a hot country like Spain public buildings, labs, government offices, hotels and hospitals must take all available precautions against the spread of bacterial infection, particularly through water. Water towers and systems serving all of the listed industries have turned to MF Instruments to implement the DataNet system to provide trusted wireless temperature and humidity monitoring across large networks.

Monitoring public water with the DataNet. A particular concern MF Instruments have noticed is the spread of the bacteria – lechionella – and clean, hygienic water is essential to battle this. Hospitals, with weak patients, open wounds and intrusive treatments such as intravenous drips or catheters make for high risk from bacterial infections. However, public buildings where many people share facilities also face similar and increasing risks. Microorganisms have range limitations and live in an optimal temperature niche. Therefore the temperature of refrigerators, water towers or systems must be kept low.


Bluetooth Serial Adapter Replaces RS-232 Serial Cables

SENA’s Bluetooth USB Adapter is a class 1 type Bluetooth product that supports 300 meters of wireless transmission distance by default. It is suitable for industrial or special applications, thanks to its longer communication distance than other regular Bluetooth USB adapters. It is compatible with other SENA Bluetooth devices perfectly.

The Parani-UD100 is a class 1 type Bluetooth USB adapter that supports 300 meters of wireless transmission distance by default. The working distance can be further extended up to 1000 meters using optional replacement antenna. Thanks to its longer communication distance than other regular Bluetooth USB adapters, it is suitable for industrial or special applications. Parai-UD100 is compatible with other SENA Bluetooth devices perfectly.
